In both Namibia and Botswana there are “peak seasons” and “low seasons”. But currently both countries are so popular, it does not matter. You must book early since Africa safaris in these countries fill up early. Indeed, availability at some places can be a problem even in "low season" even a year in advance. In short, the seasons are all fairly heavily booked. The second factor is the quality of game viewing in Botswana’s and Namibia’s African safari parks for the times you want to travel. Be aware that during peak seasons many safari lodges fill up fast. Many are small so this is not surprising. So you will have to book well in advance. This has been true for Africa safaris in Botswana for a while, now it is especially true of Namibia since Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie went to Namibia to have their baby.
