Experience The Best African Self Drive Safaris & Holidays For You!

Want to discover the best African self drive safaris for you!
You've come to the right place!

Find peace of mind & answers to your questions about the best self drive safaris in Africa for you! Free African maps & superb deals on car rentals in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana & more.

With their excellent roads, South Africa and Namibia are the best countries for self drive African safaris. We have been on over 80 safaris since we moved to South Africa in 1993.

My wife is a local and often we fly out of Johannesburg (where we live), get a cheap car rental in Cape Town for example, and head out to explore South Africa’s southern national parks.

We are really comfortable with this and you should be too. Durban, Cape Town, indeed all of South Africa & southern Africa (Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho & Swaziland are wonderfully suited for self drive safaris & tours.

Remember you can rent a car or 4 x4 in South Africa and drive it to many neighboring countries. Or drive to world famous Kruger National Park, an easy 5 hour drive from Johannesburg. We give you one great route below as an example.

It incorporates Kruger National Park and Hluhluwe - Umfolozi Game Reserve, South Africa’s oldest game reserve. Hluhluwe is located in Kwa-Zulu Natal, the same province that Durban is in. You can go to South Africa map section to download driving distances and estimated driving times.
