Discover The Best Kruger National Park Accommodation & Deals For You!

Find peace of mind & answers to your questions about what’s the best Kruger National Park accommodation for you. Find superb deals on the best accommodation at Kruger.

After having gone on over 80 African safaris since 1993, Kruger remains one of our favorite African safari destinations.
The biggest reason for this is the diversity of the ecosystems within Kruger. Now you don’t see the vast herds that you see on a Kenya safari, a Tanzania safari, or a Botswana safari, but we’ve always seen a wide range of animals.

Kruger National Park, justifiably world famous, is the crown jewel of the South African National Parks. It has the big five -- elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo.

Moreover, Kruger offers the greatest numbers of wild animals and diversity of habitats. It is also only a five hour drive from Johannesburg—on very good roads. And Kruger National Park accommodation, both in the park and outside of it is generally high quality.

This brings out the fact that Kruger (and indeed South Africa) is one of the best African safari destinations if you want to a self drive African safari.

And I might add that self drive safaris don’t have to be budget or cheap African safaris. You gain a great deal of freedom if you self drive.Stopping where and when you want to stop, lingering where you want to linger. Plus you can still have great savings on a luxury African safari.

Our Top Choices For Kruger National Park Safari Accommodation.

The Outpost – This one is our favorite. Perched on a cliff where the eagles soar below you – that’s right the eagles soar below you – this lodge is located at Kruger National Park’s extreme northern edge.
Stunning vistas of mountains in the distance, a river valley below, very good game viewing and excellent food. We can’t wait to go back! (Though it has just been sold.)

Chitwa Chitwa – Located in the famous Sabi Sands part of Greater Kruger National Park, we love Chitwa Chitwa for the wildlife, the attentive service, the food. The Sabi Sands area is world renowned for spotting leopard. This lodge affords wonderful opportunities to see this exquisite animal up close.

Honeyguide – Set in the Greater Kruger National Park, Honeyguide gives you a wonderful tented safari experience. Now remember these are not pup tents that you put up yourself. They are luxurious, with a real bed or beds, good linen, and an indoor bathroom. Sleeping under canvas gives you the ability to hear the wild as well as see it.

Here are some money saving tips:

Wildlife safaris in South Africa are a year round activity. And in recent years there has been a huge increase in the number of safari lodges and camps. This is great news for those who want Kruger National Park accommodation & experience an South African safari because:

1. it has helped hold price increases down

2. it has made it less essential than to book very far in advance. However if you plan on going on safari in high season (September to April) and you want to have the widest selection of lodges, you should reserve well in advance.

3. Made low season, which is still a great time to go on safari, very competitive. So there are lots of great deals then. Look for them, but also click here and follow our tips on things to look out for when evaluating the quality of an African safari or African safari lodge.
