Find peace of mind & answers to your questions about the best small group adventure travel for you – an African safari! Free advice! Superb deals on small group adventures in Africa.

An African adventure safari is an exotic vacation that few can experience. When you do it with a small group of friends or family you get a rare blend of fun, relaxation & learning opportunities. Not to mention that you also get once in a lifetime experiences…priceless experiences.

As a family we have been blessed to have gone on many African adventures (over 80 African safaris). Many in a small group setting. One outstanding one was when my daughter was nine. I took her with me as I hosted America’s National Public Radio’s Living on Earth program (with the host, Steve Curwood and 16 of his listeners).

We went to South Africa’s Wild Coast (along South Africa's Indian Ocean coast) and did an Africa hiking safari and an African horse safari.

Small Group Adventure Travel - An Elephant Encounter On An African Safari

"I never knew of a morning in Africa
when I woke that I was not happy"

We added to the small group adventure travel by also taking my then 11 year old nephew. He, with the rest of the small group, did an African horse safari while Maya and I hiked. (Maya didn’t want to ride because she had fallen off a horse shortly before this trip.)

It worked out wonderfully.
For me and Maya it was an outstanding time of father/daughter bonding for us as we observed splendid scenery and talked about everything. Our conversations were punctuated by dolphin sightings, dips in the warm Indian Ocean, scurrying up the red dunes and more.

The entire group all meet up again at the end of the afternoon. The trails are set and each camp had dinner ready and hot showers ready when we arrived.

It was a wonderful experience - a journey into the wilderness, landscape, African tribal culture and history of the beautiful Wild Coast. We interacted directly with the people and the place as we traversed 25km of the coast on horse, by foot and in canoes and kayaks.

The horse safari is well suited to anyone, whether you are a beginner or skilled rider. The horse trails are guided at a pace that encourages low impact on the natural environment, while offering you the chance to absorb all that this incredible area has to offer.

Facilities and services are provided and owned by self-employed individuals in the form of micro-enterprises that are the basis of the trail. Your participation assists in developing sustainable and responsible eco-tourism focused on community ownership.

Another Superb Small Group Adventure Travel Experience For You!

But that’s not all…we just had another superlative experience ideally suited for small group adventure travel!

We recently went on a canoeing kayaking safari on the Zambezi River between Zimbabwe and Zambia. We were in the Mana Pools National Park, a World Heritage Site within Zimbabwe. We camped along the banks of the Zambezi every night. It was a luxury canoe safari – porters went ahead with our tents and by the time we arrived they were set up (with beds inside, toilets attached, and dinner being made).

I can’t tell you how glorious an experience this was.
I hadn’t canoed since I was a boy scout, my wife, my daughter and my nephew had never been in a canoe before. But we were an intrepid group and with our two guides jumped in without trepidation. Our bravery was well rewarded. I would do this trip, as would any one of us, again … tomorrow.

It was thrilling! We passed hundreds of hippos and crocodiles in the space of 4 days. Saw myriad birds, elephants, buffalo, waterbuck, impala, zebra, jackals, and other animals. Plus we got to go on African hiking safaris each day. This was a great way to stretch your legs and see more animals too!
